Man-e Down! - The Curse Of The Triple Captain

I had decided as Liverpool had a double gameweek, that it was time to use my 'triple captain' bonus. With Liverpool getting closer to winning the league, I thought it was best to use it now, as later on in the season if a double gameweek came up, then rotation would be more likely for any club involved. My opponent in the head-to-head league this week was Muji again, and I could tell it was going to be a tough one, as he had a good team. Trent Alexander-Arnold was in his side for instance and he is a walking assist machine. I gave my triple captaincy to Sadio Mane, despite having a late thought on giving it to Mo Salah, as the Egyptian had less owners than Mane. This week, I decided against making any transfers, as I could not sort out a feasible way of getting in Sergio Aguero without taking a points deduction. Not getting him in with the 'Wildcard' I used at Christmas, remains the worst decision I have made this season.

The midweek action started with Aston Villa coming from behind to beat Watford 2-1. This was a rare occasion when Jack Grealish was not involved in any of the goals. Brighton allowed Bournemouth to get back on track with a 3-1 win. This of course meant just one point for Lewis Dunk. I was originally going to put Watford keeper Ben Foster in goal, but I trusted my gut and put in Southampton's Alex McCarthy. Southampton beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park, which meant the decision worked like a charm. Palace's defeat saw just a solitary point for Martin Kelly. After the problems Sheffield United caused Manchester City a few weeks ago, I thought Lys Mousset might be able to make an impact, even if United lost, but he started on the bench. City won the game 1-0 and Aguero got the goal to my discretion. He had been a sub to start the game, so I thought he would not make another contribution to leave me fuming, but he still scored. The goal was assisted by Kevin De Bruyne, which unfortunately meant points for Muji.

The following day, saw Spurs beat Norwich 2-1, and Son bagged the winner late on. I really needed that, as I broke my 'top 6' rule to get him in, and he did not fire last gameweek against Watford. Leicester beat West Ham 4-1, but Jamie Vardy was taken off early as he got injured, has the time come for me to let Vardy go? Hmm. When it comes to Leicester midfielders, I had only looked at James Maddison and Youri Tielemens, but it may be time to look at Ayoze Perez and Harvey Barnes, who were both amongst the points once again here.

Liverpool won the first match of their double gameweek, as they won 2-1 at Wolves. To my horror Sadio Mane came off early on with a muscle injury, 'just my damn luck!'. The triple captain curse struck yet again for me. I always seem to use it at the wrong time and I was livid. At least Liverpool won, or I would have completely lost it. Alexander-Arnold's corner assisted the opener for Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino got the winner, Muji has both players so the gameweek was literally over for me. Liverpool concluded the gameweek on Wednesday in their second match, with a 2-0 win at West Ham. Mo Salah bagged a penalty and produced a sublime pass with the outside of his foot to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the second. So Salah ended with 16 points from the two games. Man I let myself down, 48 points would have been significant, as not that many people got over 55 points this week. So trust me to be pitted against Muji who got 77 points. So a crushing defeat as I had been losing many close games, and I have Darren (D-Man) next who is second in the table. Yikes!
