Fantasy Football Files - Gameweek 32

I am not sure how to describe this gameweek, if I am to be perfectly honest. It was double week for numerous teams who had got to the latter stages in the FA Cup, but had already used my Wildcard, so I had to be smart about my selection. I had not previously picked any players from Manchester United, Chelsea and I only have picked Son from Tottenham so far, so with those teams being involved in a double gameweek, it do not necessarily benefit me.

Manchester City were involved in the early kickoff with Fulham, so as we did our usual Saturday morning radio show, #FootyOnTop at 10am on OnTop FM, 95.5FM in London, (always good to slip in a bit of product integration!), I duly forgot to put Sergio Aguero as my Triple Captain. At the time I was upset, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as he got injured, and would go on to miss their midweek game, he did score and assist before the injury however, as City won 2-0. With my beloved Liverpool going toe-to-toe with City, I wanted them to lose, but worse case scenario he would score.

The Saturday 3pm kick offs saw Jan Bednarek get me clean sheet points as Southampton won away 1-0 at Brighton. Diogo Jota started but did not make a significant points contribution, as Wolves lost away at Burnley 2-0, my usual points machine Raul Jimenez started the game on the bench, and when he came on missed a decent chance. Joao Moutinho did not get me the points I needed, and this was very disappointing as I will explain later. Aaron Wan Bissaka got clean points also as Palace won 2-0 at home to Huddersfield, which meant Huddersfield were unfortunately relegated. Jamie Vardy scored again as Leicester beat Bournemouth 2-0, Youri Tielemens got the assist, and I left him on the bench as I put Moutinho, as Wolves had a double gameweek. In the evening game, Lukasz Fabianski was still able to get me a bonus points for the amount of saves he made, despite West Ham losing 2-0 at home to Everton.

Sunday saw Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1 and Andy Robertson got the assist for the opener by Roberto Firmino. Mo Salah got a 'fantasy' assist for the winner, as his header was saved by Hugo Lloris, but then it Toby Alderweireld and then went in. Sadio Mane got a basic points return for starting the game.

In midweek; the only Tuesday game of relevance to my team, was in Wolves' home game against Man Utd. Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 and Jimenez who started the game got a 'fantasy' assist for the second goal, this was after of course Jota scored the first, so there was a nice points return, as they both got bonus points. On Wednesday; Spurs beat Crystal Palace 2-0 their new stadium, so there was no significant contribution from Wan Bissaka.

I had an idea to not make any transfers, so then I would have 2 transfers for GW33, but I gave in to the double gamewek hype and paid for it really as Tielemens got more points in one game than Moutinho got in two games. Kiko Femenia got on the scoresheet too on Tuesday in Watford's 4-1 demolition of Fulham, which ultimately relegated the Cottagers, very frustrating. 84 points in any other game week would be excellent, but I felt 100 points should have been hit here, and this meant I drop down the table in a few leagues that I am in, which is disappointing. With a limited schedule again due to the FA Cup Semi Finals, I will be looking to take a points deductions for my transfers, to try and get a decent score.
