Fantasy Football Files - Gameweek 35

Updated: May 1, 2019

This week saw another double gameweek for some teams, as I did not want to take another points hit, as it was affecting my position in numerous leagues, I decided to make just the one change, that you are given each each week. As Alex McCarthy has lost his place as Southampton's first choice, I took him out and brought in Angus Gunn who has taken his place.

Saturdays' early kick off saw Man City beat Spurs 1-0 with a goal fromPhil Foden, which was assisted by my triple captain Sergio Aguero, I gave Aguero the captaincy as it was a double gameweek I know he scores against Spurs and Man Utd for fun. As I did not want man City to win either game however, I was not going to be upset by any means if he flopped. In the 3pm starts, Kiko Femenia I thought was delivering me a clean sheet, only for a late goal to come from Huddersfield as Watford won 2-1. My Leicester double act; bounced back from their defeat away at Newcastle. Leicester drew 2-2 away at West Ham, and Jamie Vardy scored the first, and Youri Tielemens provided the pass for Harvey Barnes' equaliser, the bad news for me was that as Southampton had a double gameweek, I chose to start Nathan Redmond, leaving Tielemens on my bench. Wolves were very unlucky not to beat Brighton, as the game finished in a goalless draw and Diogo Jota went close on a few occasions. In the 5.30pm game, Newcastle easily dealt with Southampton 3-1, and there was no significant impact from any of my three Southampton players, which was very annoying. Sundays action saw Liverpool win 2-0 at Cardiff, Mo Salah won the penalty for the second goal, giving him 'fantasy' assist points.

In the midweek fixtures, Tuesday saw Watford and Southampton cancelling each other out, and there was no great contribution from the four players that I own. Andre Gray's late goal taking a clean sheet away from me again, which was more disappointing than Watford on the weekend, as this affected two players. As this meant another basic points return from Redmond, it meant with Tielemens assist that in one game, he got more points than Redmond did in 2, just my luck. On Wednesday, Wolves dealt with Arsenal easily with a 3-1 triumph. Diogo Jota was not to be denied at home again and scored the third goal, he was also substituted before Arsenal got their consolation goal, so got me a clean sheet point also. Man City, won 2-0 away at Man Utd, no goal for Aguero, but as I said earlier, I did not really care as I wanted them to lose. Overall a decent return, but as a few teams had double gameweeks, I must say I was hoping to get as close to 100 points as possible.
